The Department of Microbiology and Virology of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov participated in the international postgraduate course “Viral Infections in Critically Ill Patients,” held on November 6–7, 2025, in Almaty

The event was moderated by the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Virology, Professor B.A. Ramazanova, MD, PhD. Participants from the Department of Microbiology, Virology included Associate Professor A.Igisenova (without academic title), Assistant Professors G.Beisegulova and A.Musaeva, and Assistants Zh.Mustapaeva, G.Askar, and G.Nurgazina.

The course covered the following topics:
💉 Common infections in ICU patients: influenza, COVID-19, adenovirus infection, dengue fever, cytomegalovirus, and other infections
🦠 Pathophysiology, immunology, diagnosis, and treatment of the above infections
💊 Antiviral therapy and infection control strategies in intensive care units

Speakers included leading international and domestic scientists such as Prof. Alemka Markotic (Croatia), Prof. Charles Edouard (France), Prof. Despoina Koulenti (UK), and others. The course was designed for researchers, specialists in intensive care, infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, and educators in medical disciplines.
