On April 18, 2025, the Department of Microbiology, Virology hosted the «Annual International Subject-Based Student Olympiad» in the section of «Microbiology, Virology, Parasitology»

The event brought together teams from leading universities, including:

-Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina (Uzbekistan),

– Astana Medical University (Kazakhstan),

– Karaganda Medical University (Kazakhstan),

– West Kazakhstan Medical University named after Marat Ospanov (Kazakhstan)

– Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (Kazakhstan)

– S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University (Kazakhstan).

The Olympiad consisted of two rounds:

The first round included three stages:

1. In the Footsteps of the Great Classics — participants were asked to identify diseases based on quotes from literary works.
2. «Let Us Remember the Great Minds in Microbiology» — a series of questions related to the history of the discipline.
3. Blitz Tournament — a rapid and dynamic competition testing the participants’ subject knowledge.

The second round focused on practical skills and included situational problem-solving tasks as well as virtual laboratory work.

The Olympiad in Microbiology, Virology, and Parasitology was a significant academic event, highlighting the high level of student preparation and their commitment to in-depth scientific exploration. We were honored to welcome guests and teams from various universities who actively participated in the competitions and contributed to the successful organization of the event. Participation in such international academic events fosters the development of scientific knowledge, strengthens cooperation between educational institutions, and facilitates the formation of new professional connections among future medical professionals.
