History of the Department

The department of pharmacology organized in 1932 is one the leading fundamental departments of the university. The first head of the department was professor M.I. Klemparskiy.

In 1960-1985 the head of the department was professor G.I. Samarina

Under her leadership scientific research work was done in partnership with Institute of chemical sciences. As a result of conducted research local anesthetics almacain and richlokain were introduced into medical practice. From 1985 till 1989 the head of the department was docent R.K. Utepbergenova.

Activities of the department employees were guided towards improvement of methodical work and perfection of course content, organization of lectures, laboratory lessons, independent work of students and starting teaching in Kazakh language.

In 1989-2015 the department was headed by professor G.M. Pichkhadze.

During this period optimal work conditions and creative environment were introduced in the department, discipline, independence, responsibility and mutual understanding between every member of collective improved, first of all significant success was achieved in educational-methodical and scientific work, which is evidenced by results of state attestation results presenting the department almost without any criticisms during 20 years. Under leadership of G.M. Pichkhadze the first standard program of pharmacology for students of medical institutions of higher education and pharmaceutical faculties in RK was prepared and approved. Professor G.M. Pichkhadze is author/coauthor of standard programs of pharmacology for medical institutions of higher education in RK for almost all specialties.

During half of the century veterans – docent Arakelova V.V. and docent Karimova R.F. worked at the department, Karimova R.F. still keeps in touch with the department and provides advice to employees, shares her knowledge and rich experience with young teachers.

 

In the academic year 2020 — 2021, the department has 5 candidates of medical sciences, 3 employees-Masters of Medical Sciences.
From 2015 to the present, the head of the Department of Pharmacology is Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Satbayeva Elmira Maratovna. It conducts practical classes in three languages at all levels of training: bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies. Participates in the development of Educational programs in the specialties “General Medicine” and “Biomedicine”. He is the Chairman of the scientific commission “Life science”, a member of the Local Ethical Commission of KazNMU, a member of the Council of the School of General Medicine-1, a member of the EPC GMS-1. For 10 years, she was an internal auditor of the University’s QMS, and was awarded the diploma “Best Auditor”. Annually involved competition of student research papers and student competitions as a jury (Almaty, Bukhara), the work of the various working groups on teaching, research and administrative activities of the University. Under her leadership, students of the club have repeatedly won prizes at international, national and university scientific and student conferences (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Kharkiv, Astana, Almaty). Participates in the development of clinical protocols, test tasks for independent certification of specialists. She has published more than 100 scientific papers, including in international journals with a non-zero impact factor. Annually participates in various scientific and practical conferences with reports (Bangkok, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Astana, Semey, Almaty, etc.). Participates in the organization of scientific and practical conferences, seminars, master classes at the international, national and university level. Currently, under her leadership, the department performs 2 doctoral dissertations in the specialty “Medicine” and 2 master’s dissertations in the specialty “Biomedicine”. She has repeatedly been trained in the educational and research process at various seminars and courses (Kaunas, Moscow, Sydney, Astana, Almaty). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Coalition for the Rational Use of Medicines (CORSUM). Lectures for practical health care workers on the pharmacology of medicines and their rational use. He has a certificate of a clinical pharmacologist. She has a number of awards, in 2013 she was awarded the bronze medal of KazNMU, in 2019-the Certificate of Honor of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Higher education, graduated in 1993 from the pediatric Faculty of the Alma-Ata State Medical Institute, in 1995 she completed a clinical residency in the specialty “Pediatric Anesthesiology and Resuscitation” (ASMI).

Scientific publications:
The author of over 100 publications in international and national publications, including 9 in peer-reviewed journals with impact factor 5 innovative patents, 8 textbooks, including approved CCFES MES RK. Co-author of 2 standard programs in pharmacology-for students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and in the specialty “Public Health”. Developer of author’s elective courses for undergraduates and doctoral students: “Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics”, “Pharmacovigilance System”, “Undesirable side effects of drugs”, “Fundamentals of Pharmacogenetics”, “Pharmacological aspects of drug use”, etc.
