Due to a 5-year training program, which had been operated in KazGMI up to 1952 year, students were qualified to the pediatrics from the 2nd year of general medicine. The Foundation of the first independent department of the pediatric cycle was from august 1939 year. So, the head of the department of propaedeutic of childhood diseases at the pediatric faculty was Candidate of Medical Sciences Konstantin Fedorovich Popov, who previously worked as the head physician of the children’s polyclinic in Moscow.
The organizer of the clinical base was the young assistant A.I. Avenirova. Initially, the base of the training was a small extension to the children’s consultation No. 1 Frunzensky district of Alma-Ata on the street. Krasina (Valikhanov St.) and the corner of str. Pasteur (street Makatayev). In the extension of the consultation, there were only 25 beds, some of which were temporarily shifted during the lectures, and the children were taken out. With the transition to the Bologna education system in 2006, a method of credit technologies for students was implemented. Once again in 2014 the module “Peculiarities of Childhood” was created (the head of the module is Izmailova S.Kh., MD., docent) and approved by the decision of the Academic Council as a structural unit of Protocol No. 11 dated May 27, 2014. For the next two years, the module carried out training of the third-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine.
In October 2016, the Module was reorganized into the Course No. 1 (the head of the course Abdullaeva G.M., MD., docent), in connection with the unification of all departments of the pediatric (with the exception of the infectious and surgical) profile, into a single Children’s Department diseases. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the course No. 1 of the Department of Children’s Diseases provided training to 3rd-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine (GM) and the International Medical Faculty (IMF) in the state, Russian and English languages. Training was conducted on credit technology (cycles).
In September 2017, by the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the course was transformed into an independent department of “Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases” (head of the department is Izmailova S.Kh., MD, associate professor).
