Report on Visiting the Play “Bakytsyz Zhamal”at the Gabit Musrepov State Academic Kazakh Theatre for Children and Youth

On November 17, 2025, the curators of the Department of Molecular Biology and Medical Genetics — G.T. Taneeva, K.E. Zhuzzhan, and R.M. Shaikhymbekova — together with first-year students of the “Medicine” specialty from groups M25-001/002, M25-003/004, and M25-013/014 visited the Gabit Musrepov State Academic Kazakh Theatre for Children and Youth, where they watched a theatrical adaptation of Mirzhakyp Dulatuly’s work “Bakytsyz Zhamal”. The performance was presented by actors of the A. Tokpanov Zhambyl Regional Kazakh Drama Theatre, who had specially arrived from Taraz.

Professional actors from Taraz offered their own interpretation of “Bakytsyz Zhamal.” The production vividly and truthfully depicted themes such as the inequality of women in Kazakh society, the tragic fate of Zhamal and Galymzhan, and the excessive strictness of traditional customs.

The actors’ masterful performance, expressive speech, and stage movement allowed the audience to fully immerse themselves in the unfolding events. The stage design and musical accompaniment accurately conveyed the atmosphere and spirit of the era. The unique performance style of the Taraz theatre troupe and the emotional intensity of their acting were especially notable.

The students stated that they were deeply impressed by the play. The production helped them appreciate the value of national literature and showed that the social issues raised in the work remain relevant today.

Many students expressed their desire to visit the theater more often.
