The visiting professor, V.N. Nikolenko, head of the Department of Human Anatomy and Histology at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (Sechenov University), visited the S.R. Karynbaev Department of Normal Anatomy from October 28, 2025, to November 8, 2025.
The purpose of inviting the specialist was to develop a systematized understanding of the structure of the body and its functional relationships, which is necessary for the further successful study of other medical disciplines and the practical work of a physician. The purpose of inviting the specialist was to discuss mutually beneficial cooperation, including the possible exchange of resources, knowledge, and collaboration on a scientific project, increasing publication activity in international scientific projects, and mentoring the transfer of professional experience and knowledge to develop practical skills in scientific research.
Lectures were given to first- and second-year students majoring in General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Medical Pediatrics. A total of 1,130 first-year students attended the lectures, while 636 second-year students attended. A total of 18 lectures and 9 practical classes/seminars were held. During the lectures, students were provided with visual aids in the form of presentations and an educational film. Students were able to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers. Professor V.N. Nikolenko also attended classes with faculty from the S.R. Karynbaev Department of Normal Anatomy, actively participating in the sessions and visiting the bone museum and wet mount museum.
Following the lectures and seminars, average student performance improved, and students indicated their enjoyment of the lectures, as reflected in a survey. The department’s faculty also noted that the training program was very useful and noted that they acquired new knowledge and skills. Professor V.N. Nikolenko provided recommendations for improving the curriculum, proposed establishing a permanent teleconference of Inter-University Online Meetings of Student Research Circles between the S.R. Karynbaev Department of Normal Anatomy at the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and the Sechenov University Department of Anatomy and Histology, and proposed ideas for research activities.
