Students from the S.R. Karynbaev Department of Normal Anatomy took part in an international scientific and practical conference and Olympiad at the Novosibirsk State Medical University

Students from the S.R. Karynbaev Department of Normal Anatomy of the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University participated in the 10th International Morphological Scientific and Practical Competition-Conference of Students and Young Scientists “Morphological Sciences – the Fundamental Basis of Medicine” and the 10th International Student Olympiad in Morphology at Novosibirsk State Medical University.

Our team, “Morphogenius,” consisted of the following students: Samat Abylkasymov Med24-044r, Eldos Akhlasov Med24-010k, Alikbek Bolatbek Med24-045r, Anuar Zhakanbay Med24-042r, Sauryk Kumarbek Med24-012k, and Islam Suleymanov Med24-052r. The students were accompanied by department professor A.T. Dyusembaeva. and lecturer S.R. Kenbaeva. The students prepared conference papers, which were published in the conference proceedings and in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

Students Samat Abylkasymov Med24-044r and Islam Suleimanov Med24-052r took third place. Their papers on “Anatomical Features of the Lines of the Right Hand” and “Anatomical Features of the Lymphatic Drainage of the Mammary Gland” generated great interest among conference participants. The students also took part in the Olympiad. A total of 18 teams from major Russian cities—St. Petersburg, Tver, Tyumen, Kemerovo, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Barnaul, and others—participated in the Olympiad. Our team from Kazakhstan was the only international team.

There were 10 competitions in anatomy and histology. First, there was the “Warm-up” or “I Believe It or Not” competition, which involved 40 questions. The 2nd competition, “Four Pictures and One Word,” included 20 questions. Participants had to guess the term represented by four pictures. The 3rd competition, “Synonyms,” required participants to name the synonym and author of an element. The 4th competition, “Sapienti sat,” or “Theoretical Basis,” also consisted of 20 questions. The 5th competition, “Eponyms,” included 20 questions, each containing several questions. Participants had to guess the elements and the scientist they were named after. The 6th competition, “Find the Match and the Correct Sequence.” The 7th competition, “Crosswords.” The 8th competition, “Practical Skills.”

The final 9th ​​competition, was a captains’ competition. The captain received an envelope with terms and had one minute to quickly explain them in other words so their team could understand what the term was. Competition 10 – “Business Card” – was judged separately from the other competitions. This competition required presentations of the team, university, and country, and their connection to the Olympiad theme. Creativity, artistry, creative approach, and sense of humor were evaluated. Our team received a separate diploma and trophy for the best “Business Card.”

Lecturer S.R. Kenbaeva also participated as a representative of the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University (Almaty, Kazakhstan) in the educational process at the Novosibirsk State Medical University (Novosibirsk, Russian Federation) as part of the international academic mobility program.

Professor A.T. Dyusembayeva and lecturer S.R. Kenbaeva  participated as jury members for the Human Anatomy section of the 10th International Morphological Scientific and Practical Competition and Conference for Students and Young Scientists “Morphological Sciences – the Fundamental Basis of Medicine,” and also met with twenty leading morphology professors from Russian universities for our university’s QS ranking.
